Orchids have fascinated the world so much that, many countries have adopted different varieties of orchids as their respective National Flowers. Orchids are one of the most highly evolved flowers which are monosymmetrical meaning the flowers mirror each other. Depending on growth habits they are classified into three categories Epiphytic Orchids, which grow on the trees clinging to branches, Lithophytic Orchids, which grow on the bases and forks of trees and Terrestrial Orchids, which grow under the ground. 

The Orchid genus, Vanilla, is commercially used in the food industry as vanilla essence.
